This week was very difficult for me to stay focused. But I still managed to set my mind on school because college is my motivation. I drank plenty of coffee and I even tried to go to bed on time. I remembered the quote from Dr Blumin that motivated me to keep on going. I was doing something the same that I needed to change and I learned from it. So now I am changing my old habits and starting new.
" If you continue to do what you have always done, then you will continue to get what you always gotten."
-Dr. Blumin
*If you don't think this quote is a life saver then think what you want to. But I will be using this for the rest of my life.*
*Remember that L.A.M.E is important
L.A.M.E L.A.M.E L.A.M.E
Learner- Find out what kind of learner you are. Meaning how you learn and so on.
Action- Take the actions to help you learn in a productive useful way and have motivation.
Materials- Use your resources, meaning everything around you to help become a better learner.
Evaluation- The professor will evaluate you on how well you learned the material at the end of learning
PLUG-IN NOTES
This week I will be explaining how to take an organized form of notes. Notes are very important and by just taking notes you can really learn a lot if you didn't already know by now. I chose PLUG-IN NOTES. I chose PLUG-IN NOTES because all through high school I have been a note taker even when the teacher didn't ask me to. I found out that by taking notes and choosing the important information that I did better on test and quizzes, then in some cases on bonuses I got them right. I always felt that notes were meaningful so therefore I took them in high school and in college now. But these different ways that Dr. Blumin has introduced to me are unbelievable because it leaves room for me to have organization with my notes. Not only by formatting my notes I also learn so much more because I am looking over them again and again to do this strategy. I have adapted to this strategy very well because it's something I would like to do in all my classes because I can look back on my notes and remember what my professors said. I love this way of note taking.
WRT 105 Before class notes
After WRT 105 Class/Organizer
While I was in my WRT 105 class I took notes of the class discussion and arguments. I also made a chart that the professor made for males and females during class. Then after class I read my notes and found the important points from the notes. So I marked the important points from my notes as POINT on the side of the paper. Then I took another sheet of paper and made a graphic organizer of the main points form my notes that day. Wow this did help me pick my points out and look at this topic from a clear way. Finally I made a chart and formed five questions form the notes and the organizer, then placed the answers next to then for a study guide. Hey, now you know how to do PLUG-IN NOTES. This also goes for my AAS 207 class. By rereading the notes then this got through my head and I was able to remember more of the information.
The STEPS are as simple as 1 2 3
After class:
1. Reread your notes
2. As you reread each part of your notes, in the space plug-in graphic organizers, pictures, etc
3. At the end of class notes, insert a table and fill in five to ten questions that you can ask on the next exam

Karima,
ReplyDeleteYou do SUCH a great job explaining why you chose the specific technique and how to use it. I never thought about taking notes for WRT 105, but this seems like it really helped you, and I may try it soon! I also love your graphic organizer for AAS!
Keep up the good work,
Hannah :)
Hey Karima!
ReplyDeleteGreat job at explaining the Plug-In Notes! I know exactly how you feel this week! I felt like I couldn't focus on anything.
Again, great use of the quote! I always have that quote in my head.
I saw that you used this strategy in WRT 105. I never thought of that but I will try it out.
I didn't really get your graphic organizer but if you understand it then thats whats important :)
Keep up the good work!
